Texas Wineries and Vineyards - About Us
My first experience with Texas wines was in the late 1980's.
At La Buena Vida a few things that stood out in my mind were
that the wine tasting room and the vineyard were located in
different counties. I remember the high beam ceilings and
the meade. It was fantastic. Although I have not tasted any
meade since that time, (except at Scarborough fair and it was
not the same) I was very impressed.
I had grown up hearing tales of my father's side of the
family making wine in Sicily though I never knew them.
I remember when I was around twelve years old I had
tasted some red wine and told my great aunt Mae how
I really liked it. She gave me a warning telling me to
beware of red wine. She said, "It warms the soul".
I remember liking it as soon as I tasted it. I could not
even tell you the name of the wine I tasted; I just knew
I liked it. Since that time I have always been attracted
to wine. So when a friend of mine offered me a job in a
wine tasting room in the D/FW area I left a company I
had been working with about five years. I fell in love with
Texas wines. I soon felt compelled to share the knowledge
that had been shared with me. I began searching for any
information I could find, and I am offering all knowledge
that I have discovered. My wish is that you enjoy your
visit and pass on any wisdom you may have in this area. I
welcome all comments.
