Amon Carter Museum - Major 50th Anniversary Acquisition
To mark its 50th Anniversary, the Amon Carter Museum of
American Art announces that it has acquired an important
painting by Mary Cassatt, Woman Standing, Holding a Fan,
created in 1878 - 79. The work is one of only two known canvases
painted by the artist almost entirely in the medium of distemper

until now," says Andrew Walker, director of the Amon Carter.
"With her contemporaries John Singer Sargent and James McNeill
Whistler, Cassatt was one of the most influential American

REDLETTERPRINTS: Film Is Art And Good Art Is For Everyone.
We say things you are afraid to say about
film. We watch the films you are perhaps slightly intimidated
to watch, from countries one can barely pronounce and we break
it down in 300 words or less. With a background in film from
UTA, founder/editor
Olivia Reneé Saldívar began her sordid affair with
international film at age 14 and it shows no signs of
abating. Highly versed in the ins and outs of
transcendental Japanese expressionism, South American
cinéma vérité or the latest in French neo-realism, both
Olivia and co-editor Jonathan Banda list the best
from each country so that you get to view the cream of the
crop. Redletterprints loves good film and wants to share the
love.

Modern Art Museum - Ed Ruscha: Road Tested
Dr. Marla Price, director of the Modern Art Museum
of Fort Worth, is pleased to announce Ed Ruscha: Road Tested.
The exhibition, organized by Michael Auping, the Modern's chief
curator, will track key images inspired by the artist's long
fascination with driving. Since Ruscha's first road trip from
Oklahoma City to Los Angeles in 1956, the artist has continued
to engage the images he has encountered along the roads of the
western United States. This multimedia presentation will feature
some of his most iconic paintings, including two large-scale
works from the 1960s, Standard Station, Amarillo, Texas (1963)
and Standard Station with Ten-Cent Western Being Torn in Half
(1964).

Kimbell Art Museum - CRUCIFIXION by El Greco
Visitors to the Kimbell will have the extraordinary
opportunity to view a rare painting on copper of Christ on the
cross by the Spanish master El Greco. The painting comes from
the collection of Mr. Fayez Sarofim of Houston, who has generously
placed it on loan at the Kimbell through early December as part
of the Museum's continuing "Guest of Honor" series. The painting
is small in scale yet powerful in conception. Christ's limp body
hangs from the cross while a mass of dark clouds billows up from
the horizon. Adding to the drama of the sky is a bolt of lightning
that cuts across the top of the composition and passes directly
behind Christ's head.
