The Sid Richardson Collection of Western Art is an of paintings
by the Western artists, Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell.
The paintings, representing both the art and reality of the American
West, are the legacy of the late oilman and philanthropist,
Sid Williams Richardson, and were bought by him from 1942
until his death in 1959. In 1947 he established a foundation for
the purpose of supporting organizations that serve the people
of Texas. This foundation has tried to fulfill his vision by providing
grants in education, health, human services and the arts.

The Modern Art Museum at Sundance occupies 4,650
square feet of display space. The gallery is an additional venue
for the Modern's permanent collection and small-scale traveling
