Robert L. Berry, Jr.
JazzXpressions Contemporary Abstractions
As Spring approaches and the art season and Gallery Night kicks off,
I am excited once again to participate and showcase my work. Creating art is the
greatest passion I have experienced. This will be my tenth year participating in
Gallery Nights in Fort Worth since I moved here in May of 1998. I am especially
excited because I published six art books of my art during the past year. Works can
be viewed during Spring Gallery Night March 29. This is also the tenth anniversary
as a member of Art on the Boulevard Cooperative Studio and Gallery.
Thanks to Mr. Brown for putting me on the Fort Worth Scene. I am
looking forward to another ten years on the Fort Worth Art Scene. For a closer look
of what the last ten years has been like in my art world, visit www.rberryart.com.
The new books are: The Jazz in Abstract Art, The Jazz in Modern Abstract Art,
The Art of JazzXpressions, AbstractXpressions, CopperXpressions, and
UniqueXpression: Drawings 1979-1982. Books are available from purchase at
www.Lulu.com. Look for ColorXpressions by Fall Gallery Night 2008.
Over the past few years, there have been numerous alternative
venues during Gallery Night. I am excited about the new art venue, Art in the
Garden at the Botanic Garden during Fall Gallery Night. Finally, my all time
favorite, Jazz by the Boulevard. This will be my sixth year for Jazz by the
Boulevard. The passion and excitement continues.

I was born in 1951 and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. I have been painting since
the age of five or six. Art is my passion and I hope to share it with the world. I
travelled the world courtesy of the United States Air Force to Vietnam, the
Phillippines, Korea, Japan, Australia, Iceland and the Middle East during Desert
Shield. I retired after serving twenty years in the Air Force. It was difficlut
at times to pursue my passion for art, but I managed too despite some difficilties.
I have been a working artist in Fort Worth for the past nine years, participating
in all of the Gallery Nights at Art on the Boulevard and the Arts Goggle event
on the Southside. I would like to promote alternative art and art spaces that may
not get as much attention as some of the more known or established galleries.
There are a lot of talented artists that are left out of the opportunity to show
their work. I am happy that I have the opportunity to show at the Coffee House
Gallery and I am garteful for Diane and Tony Peters for letting me exhibit.
Artist Statement: In the quest for individuality, art is the highest expression
of "Human Victory". It does not matter how the world perceives your art, it only
matter how your art perceives the world.
Often, Artists try to please the so called established art world and end up
feeling lost and left out. I say to those that feel that way: Do your your
own thing, create what you feel, then show it to the world. I hope that you
can make it to the reception, and thanks for supporting the Arts. I hope that
sheds a little more insight.
